Leadership Week...
Leadership Wimmera executive officer Mary Bignell said this year's Leadership
Week was a double celebration, with major sponsors ACE Radio Broadcasters and
Bendigo Bank announcing financial backing for a further three years.
Bendigo Bank has committed $30,000 and ACE Radio Broadcasters has committed
$20,000.

"This sponsorship will enable Leadership Wimmera to continue to offer
leadership development programs in the Wimmera, including the Leadership Skills
Initiative, Community Leadership Year and Business Leaders," she said.
Leadership Wimmera also receives funding through Regional Development Victoria's
Provincial Leaders initiative to deliver the programs.
Bendigo Bank regional manager Simon Cornwell said the contribution was part
of the bank's ongoing commitment to regional Victoria - and the
Wimmera in particular.
"The Wimmera - home to the first Community Bank branch, at Rupanyup/Minyip
- has a special place in the bank's heart. This commitment to Leadership
Wimmera recognises the important work of the program," he said.
The bank, which also has branches in Horsham and Dimboola and an online agent
in Warracknabeal, knew first-hand the value of Leadership Wimmera, he said.
"Bendigo Bank staff members have participated in Leadership Wimmera
courses and we recognise the enormous benefits. Again this year, two bank employees
are part of leadership courses," Mr Cornwell said.
The Weekly Advertiser, MIXX FM and 3WM general manager Mark Taylor said ACE
Radio Broadcasters was proud to back community leadership and skills development
in the Wimmera.
"Leadership Wimmera, which provides professional development right
here in the Wimmera, is essential for the future of the region," Mr Taylor
said.
Acclaimed business trainer Phill Young, who has been involved with staff development
since 1978, was the keynote speaker.
Mr Young has a varied background, having worked in the corporate, public
service, education and private consultation fields. He is also a registered
psychologist. He is known for his expertise in coaching and people skills development,
as well as his passion and humour.
Community Leadership Year participant Brooke Turner from Wimmera Volunteers
gave a local perspective on her experiences of being part of the program.
