In April 2007, the Wimmera Development Association presented a Wimmera Southern Mallee Drought Report 2007 to the Victorian Government.

The proposed $9.75 million Wimmera Regional Intermodal Freight Hub, to be based at Dooen, aims to provide a central location for grain storage and export, and replace the ageing terminal at the Horsham railway station.
